The quick-serve, contact-free new eatery will be opening at 3800 Langston Boulevard this spring. Burger Billy’s will use a locker system to deliver its fresh, locally-sourced burgers from the grill to the customer.

Co-owner Payman Ahrarian spoke with What Now DC about bringing the revolutionary new concept to Arlington. “ I did a lot of demographic research-my business partner and I grew up locally. We’re very fond of the area.”

Ahrarian explains that Amin first developed the idea for locker-based delivery before the pandemic struck. “He saw the food lockers being used in Europe. When the pandemic hit I started a business that was similar with beer and wine and we brainstormed and here we are.”

Burger Billy’s doesn’t force customers to choose between speed and quality. Ahrarian and Amin have partnered with Cottonwood Ranch from Front Royal, Virginia to ensure they use only the freshest local beef. “It was difficult to find local beef that would deliver and provide 100 percent angus, grass-fed beef. We did a lot of market research, looking for local beef. One of our schticks is that we never freeze our beef. We get deliveries once a week so everything is fresh.”

Of course, a burger is only as good as the bread that it’s served on, and the partners have dedicated the same care and patience to sourcing superior buns as they did to the beef. “Our buns are from an artisan shop called Lyon’s Bakery.” Ahrarian states. “The two biggest parts of the burger are the buns and the beef so we’re very focused on making sure we have the highest quality buns and beef.”

Future regulars can enjoy their burgers knowing that Burger Billy’s is ensuring its staff is well cared for. In addition to providing an ideal ordering alternative for introverts, the concept allows Burger Billy’s to compensate its workers well. Ahrarian explains “The idea is to be able to save a bit on payroll at the front end so we can pay staff fairly. We’re never going to ask for tips-we provide fair wages for our staff.”

Ahrarian says that while the company is still placing equipment and finishing up the interior, Cherrydale residents can look forward to enjoying fresh, delicious burgers this April.
