Spanky’s is taking over the space at 62 Plaza Street NE vacated by Rocco’s NY Pizza & Subs. Zarou is maintaining the restaurant’s pizza-focus, while putting his own, unique spin on the Italian favorite.

Zarou brings a wealth of experience, both in hospitality generally and pizza in particular, to the new project. He states: “My dad had a pizza place called Uncle Abe’s in Leesburg and I’ve started several chains in the past…I figured the new branding of Spankys would give good, affordable products for families who want a good meal at a good price.”

Future regulars can look forward to enjoying more than just hot slices. Zarou explains: “It’s really pizza, subs, salads, and apps-everybody always wants certain appetizers, so I’m offering appetizer platters.”

Zarou will be making the space over before opening Spanky’s doors to the public. He states that he’s adding another bathroom and 12 more seats, bringing the total up to 18.

Leesburg residents can anticipate enjoying Spanky’s fare in early fall. Zarou says: “We’re trying to get open in September. We have all the mechanicals and the hardware. We’re just waiting on permits.” He encourages interested parties to check out Spanky’s website at www.spankyspizzas.com for updates and inquiries.

Spanky’s will provide customers with a warm, welcoming environment to enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank. Zarou sums up his goal for the concept as: “I want people to come in and feel happy. We’re going to have a good vibe where people can come in and have a quick meal for a good price.”
