Emperor Nero fiddled while Rome burned, but DC will soon be embracing a far more welcoming Nero, one that brings delicious Italian cuisine and a warm, welcoming environment. The eatery, which already has a presence at 1323 Connecticut Avenue NW, has applied for a liquor license for a Dupont Circle building, according to documents from the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration.

Nero will be taking over the space that last housed Bar and Lounge 54, at 1207 19th Street, NW. The liquor license placard establishes that the restaurant will provide both indoor and outdoor seating for guests. The facility will be able to accommodate up to 180 guests inside and has space for 45 at a sidewalk cafe.

The documentation indicates that Nero intends to offer live entertainment and dancing. The restaurant’s hours of operations will be 12 pm to 2 am on Sunday through Thursday and 12 pm to 3 am on Friday and Saturday. The sidewalk cafe will serve customers from 8 am to 1 am, Sundays through Saturdays.

Nero specializes in offering a wide range of cuisine, made with fresh, delicious ingredients. Additionally, the restaurant serves an impressive selection of cocktails, all in an elegant setting. A precise opening date is not currently available for the Dupont Circle location, however the Nero website assures future regulars the eatery “will open soon”.
