An historic DC building may soon be getting a new lease on life, courtesy of a rapidly expanding chicken chain. Raising Cane’s, furthering its efforts towards poultry domination, is pursuing a new Georgetown location, reports the Washington Business Journal.
The fast-casual juggernaut’s plans for 3249 M Street NW involve extensive renovations. If its proposal is approved, Raising Cane’s will be demolishing the interior and certain exterior walls, as well as a carriage house located behind the building. The Georgetown restaurant is still in the early phases; Cane’s has filed its plans with D.C.’s Historic Preservation Office.
Raising Cane’s has been pursuing an aggressive growth strategy, but still only has a handful of stores in the DMV region. The chain opened its first DC location in Union Station this January. Raising Cane’s has Virginia storefronts in Manassas, Sterling, Bowie, and Forestville, and has made its presence known in Maryland, with Columbia, Gambrills, and Waldorf eateries.
Raising Cane’s has developed a massive fan-following owing to its simple but delicious interpretation of chicken fingers. The concept’s menu is limited; guests can choose between chicken fingers and a chicken sandwich, with sides including coleslaw, fries, and Texas Toast.
