One of the new locations will be in Georgetown, located at 1335 Wisconsin Ave NW which is slated to open later this year, and the other as part of the Union Market District at 1285 4th Street NE in spring of 2024.
“Greco Truly Greek eatery embodies the neighborhood that the owners Demetri Tsolakis and Stefanos Oungrinis grew up in, the stories they heard, and the people they love. Greco shares all of their tastes of home. Greco is their “meraki,” the need to remember and create. And there is one way and one way only to do that – their TRULY GREEK way.”
“There’s the American version of Greek food—then there’s true blue Greco. Xenia Greek Hospitality and Greco’s acclaimed Culinary Director Brendan Pelley has found a delicious way to blend quality and convenience and take Greek street food to a whole new level. Traditional gyros are filled with the highest quality proteins and can be customized with authentic fillings and sauces.”
“Classic Greek sides can complete a feast or make a nourishing snack on the go. And legendary loukoumades are the perfect way to complete a meal or give you a sweet pick me up along with Greco’s iconic Greek coffee Frappe. The bountiful menu has allergen-friendly options and accommodates dietary preferences with vegan and vegetarian options as well.”
“Washington D.C. is so distinct among all of the American cities, so it was a no-brainer for us to choose it as the first destination for Greco expansion,” says Demetri Tsolakis in the press release, CEO of Xenia Greek Hospitality. “The Greco Truly Greek concept is going to be a great addition to the already vibrant and international restaurant scene in D.C. Greco is for everyone and we look forward to being a new thread in the culinary fabric in the Georgetown and Union Market District neighborhoods.”
“We chose Georgetown and Union Market for our first D.C. locations for different reasons,” says Stefanos Ougrinis, Chief Marketing Officer at Xenia Greek Hospitality. “We fell in love with Georgetown’s historic and charming vibe that is complemented by the distinctive architecture and urban feel. The foodie mecca of Union Market District is punctuated by a diverse scene with redevelopment rooted in bringing back a beloved landmark that first opened to the public in 1871. We are thrilled to open and add a traditional Greek food option to these vibrant communities.”
