The family-owned concept will be opening its third location in the former home of Angie’s Restaurant, at 9569 Braddock Road this summer. Owner Lorenzo D’Agostino spoke with What Now DC about introducing the family business to the region, saying: “We looked around in a few different areas and this seemed like a logical next place. We felt that the neighborhood was right for the product we serve, which is NY style pizza and Italian comfort food, and we feel like the demographic in this area is welcoming to us. It’s been a place we’ve had an eye on for some time.”

D’Agostino believes that  the Federal Realty-fronted Twinbrooke Shopping Centre will provide a welcoming atmosphere for Tony’s newest home. He adds that growth is an important part of his vision for the company, saying: “I took over for my father around 2017 and it’s been part of my project to expand organically-that we can maintain the quality of the brand and move into the right areas, find the right markets, and grow the right way.”

Locals unfamiliar with the brand can look forward to savoring a celebrated and acclaimed slice of pie, right in their own backyard. D’Agostino describes the Tony’s experience as: “New York style pizza. We’ve won 9 different awards for pizza in Virginia, so we’ve become a staple for pizza in the area. We serve very good Italian sandwiches and cheesesteaks, and we have old recipes for pasta. We emigrated from Italy so we have very homey pastas. We typically serve families; a lot of our demo is families. This location will have bar seating, and coffee options.”

While the new Fairfax location will maintain the quality Tony’s customers have come to expect, visitors can anticipate some exciting changes. D’Agostino explains: “The base menu will be identical. I want to make sure that each store stays true to our brand and our product. I am going to offer more homemade italian desserts, signature cocktails, and coffee at this location.  A bit more of the handmade touch.”

The new location provides Tony’s with a blank slate. D’Agostino states:”We’re building the place from scratch. It’s going to be cozy and very welcoming to the local community. This location is going to be a mix of the NY style slice and have that warm, welcoming feeling for sit down for something quick.”

While locals may be chomping at the bit, there is still a bit of a wait before Tony’s opens its newest location. D’Agostino states: “We’re shooting for a summer opening. We’re in the buildout now and we’ve officially been granted the space. We’re talking to contractors for the buildout now.”
