Starr is working with Keith McNally to open the DC version of their successful New York City restaurant at 1323 4th Street NE. The space will allow ample indoor and outdoor seating; guests preferring to avoid the elements can enjoy their meals in the 250-seat interior, while up to 93 customers can enjoy the view of the city from one of two outdoor dining areas.
While a precise opening date has not been announced, Starr and McNally intend to open Pastis in January of 2024. The restaurant’s website states that it is currently hiring staff.
Both Starr and McNally have numerous, highly successful restaurants on their rosters. Pastis will be Starr’s third DC concept to open over a relatively short period of time. The successful restaurateur is also opening Osteria and an as-of-yet unnamed restaurant in the Occidental’s old home in the near future. McNally is the brains behind concepts like Balthazar, Minetta Tavern, and the Odeon.
Pastis offers gourmet cuisine in a sophisticated atmosphere. DC gourmands can look forward to sampling dishes ranging from high French cuisine like trout amandine to elevated versions of comfort classics including the Cheeseburger a l’Americaine.
