The chain will be renovating the long vacant space located at 15701 Old Columbia Pike. Chipotle will breathe new life into the old building, which has sat empty since KFC closed 14 years ago. The space will provide the popular Mexican restaurant with 2,975 square feet to greet and serve customers.

An opening timeline is not currently available; while Chipotle has signed a lease, construction does not appear to have begun on the site yet. Once completed, the eatery is slated to feature a Chipotlane, the brand’s signature take on the drive-thru.

Chipotle has a considerable presence in the DMV, with 112 stores in Maryland alone. The chain has earned acclaim and fans through its assembly line approach to fast-casual Mexican cuisine. Customers value the opportunity to cobble together their ideal bowl, burrito, quesadilla, or taco, selecting from bases, proteins, and add-ons.
