The restaurant, located at 1900 North Street NW, is the latest project from the minds behind For Five Coffee. Once opened, Balos Estiatoro will provide seating for up to 178 guests inside the facility. The eatery will also offer outdoor dining for up to 32 customers who prefer to enjoy their dinners al fresco.

Founders Stefanos Vouvoudakis, Tom Tsiplakos, and Joe Ragonese are shooting for an early December debut. The trio are friends as well as business partners, and plan to fuse classic Greek hospitality with modern sensibilities.

The Balos Estiatoro website details the owners’ objectives and aspirations for the restaurant, saying “The Balos partners have curated a rotating menu inspired by Greek seafood, spices, and seasonal fare, featuring the brightest tastes available at any given time of year.”

Vouvoudakis, Tsiplakos, and Ragonese hope the restaurant will become a comfort location for the D.C. area. They state “Each dish is designed to be savored among friends amidst the restaurant’s light and breezy open-concept dining room, carefully constructed to evoke the convivial atmosphere of the Balos Island namesake.”
